First broken by Capstone Report, Ed Litton has now plagiarized and entire sermon on Romans 8 from none other than J. D. “hold-my-beer” Greear. Honestly, folks, this is disqualifying behaviour for a pastor. The theft of ideas is still theft, and the seventh commandment says, “You shall not steal.” A visible, and now public, direct violation of one of the Laws of God should be enough to make anyone shiver and quake with fear before The Almighty.
This particular sin could be occurring for a number of reasons, some of which may be: 1) ignorance, 2) laziness, 3) poor character, or 4) lack of care for God’s people. One of those, or any combination of them, or even other reasons may explain the issue–but it is still sin, and it is still a bad stench in the nostrils of Almighty God. What sane individual would do that with such an important thing–unless they do not view it as important? God forbid.
Here is a video comparison so all you Bereans out there can do the work of learning (i.e., being disciples) for yourselves and make up your own minds. Do not EVER rely on what I say.
If after viewing that video you are not wondering if the Southern Baptist Convention has a recall mechanism for poor leadership, you may want to repent and believe the gospel.
Ecclesia reformata semper reformanda est…
God help the SBC, and bring Ed Litton into true repentance and faith.
